Getting Over It APK – A Different, Very Different Game
Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy is unlike any other game. It’s quite strange and even a bit unsettling to some extent. At first glance, it may seem like one of those joke games that are everywhere on the internet. But the moment you start playing, you realise it’s far from a joke.
In fact, you don’t even need to play it to get a sense of what it's about. Just watching the promotional video will give you a pretty good idea. In the video, the creator himself describes Getting Over It as “a game I made for a certain kind of person. To hurt them.”
Yes, we also spent a while trying to wrap our heads around that last phrase. Luckily or unluckily, there’s only one way to figure out what Bennett Foddy means, and that’s by playing Getting Over It.
But be warned—if you decide to try it, this is a game that can become seriously addictive. Curious to know why? Keep reading…
A Man, a Cauldron, and a Hammer
Behind such a simple and original premise—a man stuck in a cauldron who wants to climb a mountain using only a hammer—lies one of the most frustrating games of recent years. And it seems the more frustrating it gets, the more hooked we become.
Perhaps it’s the absurd nature of the idea, the difficulty of controlling it, or simply the curiosity of discovering what’s waiting at the top of the mountain.
But you'll likely find yourself asking other questions too. Why is the man in the cauldron? Why is he using a hammer? Why does he want to climb the mountain?
And the biggest question of all: Why am I playing this game?
The only way to get answers to any of these questions is to play Getting Over It.
The Challenge of Touch Controls and the Quest to Improve
If the PC version already felt incredibly frustrating with the hammer being controlled by a mouse, on mobile the difficulty ramps up even further as you have to use touch controls.
So, get ready to muster a lot of patience if you hope to reach the top of the mountain. It could take you five minutes or five hours. It’s also possible you might never make it.
But then again, it’s just as likely that once you do, you’ll want more. You’ll want to beat your own score—or rather, reduce the time it takes to get there.
And with the leaderboard showing people from all over the world constantly beating their own records, you’ll always have the urge to improve.
A Bit of History
Let’s put Getting Over It into context: the action takes place in a world full of intricate details, many of which are quite fascinating. The protagonist, Diogenes, sits in a cauldron, freely wielding a massive Yosemite hammer with his hands.
He can use this hammer both to hold onto objects and to move around. Players must manipulate the hammer to help him ascend the mountain.
The difficulty of the climb steadily increases. As you progress, elements like gravity, trickier and steeper obstacles, and harder-to-reach ledges are introduced. And to make things even more challenging, there are no power-ups or checkpoints to resume from.
So, players face the risk of losing part—or even all—of their progress with just one misstep.
Everything is Exactly Where It Should Be
On the Getting Over It mountain, you’ll come across just about anything you can imagine—and then some. From barrels to shopping carts, to rocks, trees, slides, and even lamps.
At first glance, it might seem like all these objects are randomly placed. But nothing could be further from the truth. No, the objects aren’t just scattered about without reason. There’s a hidden logic behind them, one that you’ll discover the hard way. Yes, because the mountain is specifically designed to punish every mistake you make.
The Soothing Piano Music in the Background
As we’ve mentioned several times, in Getting Over It you'll be climbing a mountain. Yes, but you’ll be doing so while listening to a delicate piano melody.
From time to time, Bennett Foddy himself chimes in with comments or observations about what the player is experiencing.
In comments like, "What we call failure is not falling to the bottom... but staying there," lies part of the game’s philosophy.
In the end, climbing in Getting Over It becomes a metaphor for the art of living.
A Game That Won’t Leave You Indifferent
In short, Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy is one of those games that won’t leave anyone indifferent. You either love it or hate it—there’s no middle ground.
Along the way, it’s going to make you angry, frustrated, sad, and perhaps even give you a new perspective on life. Or maybe not.
Getting Over It Isn’t a Free Game
That’s right, Getting Over It isn’t one of those titles you can download and play for free, only to find it packed with microtransactions.
Rest assured, in this case, you make a one-time payment of €5.49, and you can enjoy the game without limits and without surprises. And best of all—no ads!
